I was a bit skeptical at first, but the rubberized bottom grips the counter perfectly when I knock out grounds. It's noticeably quieter than my old metal tamper, too.

The rubber base on this tamper really does soften the knock against the portafilter, and it’s made a noticeable difference in how smoothly my espresso routine goes. Feels solid and well-constructed without being overly heavy.

The rubber base does soften the impact when I tap the portafilter, which is exactly what I wanted. It’s a bit narrower than my old tamper’s base, so I have to aim more carefully, but it works fine for daily use.
